Ultra-wideband real-time location system
Precise real-time location that installs itself.
Noccela tracks people, vehicles and assets with accuracy up to 10 cm. Our base stations calibrate themselves, our tags run for years, and the Location Intelligence Platform delivers live positions to your dashboards and systems, in the cloud or on your premises.
- Positioning accuracy, up to
- 10 cm
- Coverage per base station, up to
- 500 m²
- Active tags at 1 Hz within radio range
- 1,000
- Configurable update rate
- 0.1–50 Hz
One system from tag to dashboard
Noccela designs the whole positioning chain in Finland: the radio protocol, the hardware, the firmware and the software. You get one supplier and one system that works together.

How it works
From radio pulse to business decision
Tags send short ultra-wideband pulses. Base stations measure them, the positioning engine turns the measurements into positions, and the platform turns positions into alerts, KPIs and data for your systems.
- Step 1 Tags Badges and asset tags send short UWB pulses
- Step 2 Base stations Measure the radio signals and calibrate themselves
- Step 3 Positioning engine Computes positions in the cloud or on your premises
- Step 4 Location Intelligence Platform Maps, dashboards, alerts and workflows
- Step 5 APIs Real-time stream, HTTP API and webhooks
- Step 6 Your systems WMS, MES, ERP, BI, safety and sports apps
-
Accurate where it matters
Accuracy up to 10 cm, also in metal-heavy halls where Bluetooth and Wi-Fi struggle.
-
Installs itself
Measure two base stations. The rest calibrate their own positions over UWB.
-
Years on one battery
Tags sleep when they are not moving. Battery life is typically several years.
-
Cloud or on-premise
Run it as a cloud service or entirely inside your own network.
Technology
Two-way ranging accuracy without the battery cost
Most UWB systems make you choose between two-way ranging (TWR), which is accurate but uses more airtime and energy per position, and time difference of arrival (TDoA), which saves tag battery but needs tightly synchronised base stations and usually has no link back to the tag. Noccela's High-Performance Ranging (HPR) protocol is designed to give you both.
| Two-way ranging (TWR) | TDoA | Noccela HPR | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How a position is made | Tag exchanges messages with each base station | Tag sends one blink; base stations compare arrival times | Ranging-based positioning with a compact message exchange |
| Tag airtime and energy | Higher | Low | Low: battery life typically several years |
| Base station synchronisation | Not needed | Required (wired or wireless) | No timing cables: one PoE cable per base station, which calibrates itself |
| Link back to the tag | Yes | Usually not | Yes: alerts, configuration and over-the-air updates |
