About Noccela

Precise location technology, designed in Finland

Noccela designs ultra-wideband (UWB) real-time location systems in Finland: base stations (UWB anchors), tags, the Location Intelligence Platform and APIs for tracking people, vehicles and assets indoors and outdoors. We have worked with UWB radio since 2015.

Our story

Noccela started in 2014 with a retail problem: how to protect goods on open display without locking them away. That work led the team to ultra-wideband radio in 2015, and to a conclusion that shaped the company. The UWB positioning methods of the time made you choose between the accuracy and two-way link of two-way ranging and the tag capacity of time difference of arrival. So Noccela built its own.

The result is High-Performance Ranging (HPR) and a complete system around it: base stations that calibrate themselves, tags that run for years on a battery, a positioning engine in the cloud or on the customer's premises, and the Noccela Location Intelligence Platform with open APIs.

After the retail years, the platform was opened to partners and customers in other industries. Since then the same technology has been used in factories, warehouses and logistics terminals, on sports fields and in stables, often through partners who build their own applications on it.
