In November 2023 Noccela began moving the cloud infrastructure behind its positioning service to Google Cloud. The positioning engine, the platform and the APIs that customers and partners use all run on this infrastructure.

Why Google Cloud

The move gives Noccela and its customers:

  • Scalability on demand. Capacity grows with the number of sites and tags, from a single pilot to many locations.
  • Responsiveness. Applications respond faster, which matters for live maps and real-time alerts.
  • Global reach. One platform for customers and partners in different countries.
  • Reliability and security. A large provider’s infrastructure, security practices and service levels.
  • Data tools. Access to advanced data analytics and machine-learning tools.
  • One development environment. A unified way to build and run Noccela’s applications.

Cloud or on premises

Positions are calculated by Noccela’s own positioning engine, wherever it runs. Customers who need to keep all data inside their own network can run the system on an on-premise server instead of the cloud.
